Chuck Sambuchino announced in his blog on the Writer’s Digest site today that Sony is planning to option the rights to his humor book, How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack. I am very excited for him. I read his blog, “Guide to Literary Agents,” regularly, but that’s not the only reason. I personally find garden gnomes extremely creepy, and would not at all be surprised at an impending attack. I plan to read the book as soon as I can buy a copy (my “want” list of books is long), but having a movie to reinforce the lessons would be great. Perhaps the most exciting part of this news is that Robert Zemeckis, who made the Back to the Future films and many films starring Tom Hanks (the good ones) is part of the project because he loved the book.
